Hi! I'm using SW 2011 & find that when you insert channels into a weldment the material on the channel is not properly removed!
Sorry for misreading your question and getting you to look for something which was not required.
The picture clearly states the issue you have. Seems like weldments adjusted themselves or you used trim operation to get this cope. In my opinion, you will need to manually cut/remove the material using cut extrude hence setting up the shape as required,
Welcome to SW forums Paul
What do you mean by material on the channel is not properly removed? How you have applied the material or is it predefined? OR are you talking about the appearance? Any file or picture will be good to understand the issue.
Check the attached pic to show how you can remove the material or appearance.

Hi Deepak! Thanks for the quick response & certainly the welcome! Yes I am new to the boards. I have been working with Inventor 3d for some years now. l do have some experience with Solidworks from 2006, but am playing catch up once again. I certainly do like SWorks much better. The problme I am having is the complete removel of material at the cope of a channel which sits inside another channel of the same size. I will attach a .jpg for you to better see what I am talking about. There was a similar problem with Inventor not removing all the material, but this is much worse! Hopefully it is something I am doing wrong here. I did as you suggested in "Removing Material. I went into Appearance there was no "X Remove All Part Appearances From" I was able to get into the Panel ot the left but "Remove Material" was greyed out.
