I get this error every once in a while when retrieving hardware from the toolbox, can someone explain to me:
My first question is, unless I am missing something, in all the years
I have used toolbox I have never had to browse for the toolbox parts.
I just loaded it through tools>add ins and there it was.
Scott,
No, I don't have to browse for the files. After picking toolbox and drilling down to the fastener that I want, and picking on Socket Head Screws I get the error below (not sure why the location shows C:\prog... - the toolbox folder is in a different location, on a network drive):
I've tried browsing to the toolbox folder location, hitting cancel or browsing to a folder where I have full permisions and pick OK. Then I get this message:
After all of the above, I'm missing previews for two of the fasteners.
It is not a major issue, just more of an annoyance at this point.
Mark
I hear ya, It would annoy me as well.
Kind of makes me wonder if you got a bad install. Wondering if all the files
didn't install correctly.
Don't think it was a bad install, but not sure. This was a copy of the standard ansi library so that it could be customized. My guess is that a couple of the images didn't get copied/created when the ansi standard was copied.
My work around (may not work for you Dave if your missing images in the original library) was to copy the bitmap images from the corresponding ansi folder, put them in my copied folder and rename them to match the appropriate part. Here is what the screen now looks like and I don't get the error.
It would be nice to know the correct way to fix, but I'm set for now.
Dave:
Let me know if you are still having the problem. If they are specific bolt/screws from the standard libraries, maybe I can send you the preview bitmaps and walk you through where to put them.
Mark
A possible reason is that the Toolbox part in the browser folder does not have the preview in it. In this case you can not create a preview bitmap for the Toolbox part even though you have write permissions at the Toolbox location. To correct this issue,
1) Browse to actual Toolbox location (path can be found under Tools->options->System options->Hole Wizard/Toolbox and part files are located under \Browser\XXXX(standard name)\Part category (like Bearings)
2) Change default Windows read only status of file
3) Open file in SolidWorks and save it
4) Close file and confirm preview gets created
5) Switch on Read Only status for Toolbox part.
