Hi guys,
I'm trying to model up a helix cut on a shaft, 1/4 turn helix, 5mm height. Can someone tell me the best practice for this, i've attempted it with;
the Wrap command - not a true representation of the manufacturing result as the start and end of the cut are also wrapped around the shaft where they should be cuts perpendicular to the face made by the cutter.
attempted a Profile using the helix as the path and created a plane perpendicular to the helix and created a sweep profile on that to cut - this seemed to produce a fair result but I still wasnt happy
Lastly ive just attempted a Solid Sweep again using the helix as the path and created a revolved body to form the cutting tool - to me this command seems the most realistic in terms of mirroring the manufacturing process however the result doesnt look as clean. (see pic attached)
So now just looking for any other tips/best practices for creating this sort of cut, it basically has to exactly replicate the same results as it would if it was to be manufactured.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack
