Guys, any ideas on how can I attach a parameter to a feature in Solid Works? I want to assign a parameter (type text or string) to a surface, or to a face of a solid body. Please advice. Thank you.
What parameter are you looking to assign?
I would look at individual solidbodies, linking values.
Scott,I am trying to assign a parameter to a surface on a cylinder. I am making a CFD analysis and I need to attach the parameter "inlet" to one of the cylinder faces and "outlet" to the other face.Where can I look at individual solid bodies, linking values?
Thanks a lot.
If you look at the links I gave you in my last posting it looks as though
you can do what you are trying to do through simulation. If you are trying
to work through simulation you might be better off posting this under the simulation
You can use AttributeDef and Attribute Objects to add information (text, double) to a feature, face (entity) or body. The API help document has a good example of how to use it.
Hope it helps!!!
Thank you Rajat.
Now, I am not an expert. Where can I find the AttributeDef and Attribute Objects action buttons to apply?
I did not notice that you wanted to do it manually and not by using a program or macro.
There is still one way through which you can add text to a face. Select the face and right click on your mouse. In the Face properties group box, You can select Face Properties which allows you to add a name to the selected face.
This property can be used to put additional information.
