I have a problem from time to time with the dimension dialog box that pops up when you double click on a dimension in an assembly or part file. Sometimes it appears. Sometimes just a generic text box pops up. See the attached file. The text box can be edited, and the dimension will update properly, but none of the other features of the dialog box show up. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when the text box pops up. Anybody else have this experience?

What you are describing only happens in part mode.
not assembly.
Possibly. I just tried it. It happens when I'm in part mode, but it also happens when I'm in the Edit Component command, which I suppose may be considered to be in part mode. Regardless, I can get either the text box or the dialog box when I try to modify a dimension in those modes. I can't say for sure it never happens when I'm strictly in assembly mode.
The little box you are showing looks like what you get when you have Instant3D turned on. It's a quick way into the dim to change it.

Thanks. I did have Instant 3D turned on. I turned it off, and it seems to have taken care of the problem.
