Could you tell me how to translate the origin of an assembly?
You can't. The origin is fixed at the 0,0,0 position.
You will have to locate and /or re-orient the part models to the origin.
Welcome to the forum.
Can you be a little more specific as to what you are trying to do?
I ask because you can add coordinate systems, but like Kelvin
said you can't move the origin.
If it is just the 'assembly origin' you need to move, then the most direct way would be to mak the 'anchoring' part (usually the first part in the tree) into a 'Floating' part (found in the RMB menu on while hovering over that main 'fixed' component.) and then move all the Components until they (the geometry) are in the correct location relative to the origin. Probably do this by using mates that reference the main assembly's primary planes.
If that is somehow not possible, then your best bet for 'translating' the origin of an Assembly is to make a Reference Coordinate system, and then export the entire assembly as a Parasolid file, and in the 'Options' page for the 'Save-As' dialog, you will find the option (way at the bottom) to pick that new Reference Coordinate system as the new coordinate system after export.
Hope that helps!!
