Some, but not all, of my icons for SW part files have all the sudden gone crazy! Anybody ever run across this?
Thanks for your help
Does the problem persist after rebooting the computer?
Are you working off of a network?
Try rebooting that as well as your machine like Kelvin suggested.
My Windows Explorer icons work fine, but my desktop icons (all of them) change every time I log on. They're not just wrong, but they change all the time! Actually, it's kind of fun.
Thank for the suggestions. I have rebooted my computer, I will have our IT reboot the server tomorrow if they will.
I also have noticed that if I have SW files on my desktop they change with every reboot.
Obviously it isn't that big of a deal but it is strange and a little bit of a nuisance.
How are they changing? What do you mean by that?
Similar to what Walter said above, they aren't just wrong but they change everytime I reboot.
I don't think the ones on the server change, they are just wrong.
Ok, I guess since I am not experiencing that, I am lost as to what "they just change means".
Walter said basically the same thing you did. Does that mean they move all around, the picture of the icon
is different? Not sure.
the picture of the icon changes, sorry for my lack of clarity. they do the same thing as the picture above but the picture of the icon is different each time i reboot.
No problem. Sure you don't have some sort of mild virus going on there?
I would think a virus would affect all of my icons, only SW icons are screwing up. Also, our IT keeps a close eye out for any viruses.
Ok, Sorry, I am out of solutions at this point. Sorry I could not help more.
Winders changes each icon to a different button face every time I reboot. Now that I'm reading this discussion, it might be only the SW files that are changing. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
Did anybody find a solution for this? Mine is doing it now also. SW 2012 SP2. If I hit F5 to refresh the desktop I can see the icons for a slit second but they change back to a preview of a SW file.
It happens to me also, but if you run the attached file it sorts it out until the next time.
Hope it helps
