Can anyone tell me where I can find the API manual? I would like to purchase a hard copy.
I was once shown it by a reseller, now the reseller can't seem to figure out how to sell me one!
This thread might help you. It doesn't offer a manual but gives great
links to how to use API.
Hi Bob, I've never heard of such manual to be honest. Don't take my word for it though, I've been wrong once before. haha
I think you might have been shown the API course manual. Call your var and ask him if they provide a manual for their API course, and ask if you can buy just the manual. My company did this for advanced assemblies and parts. Sometimes, they may not want to sell you the book, because they would prefer to sell you the course instead... $$$$$$ chachhing!
Here's the course outline...cheers
I have found the API programming books from Luke Malpass to be excellent references. You can find them at angelsix.com.
To learn API, first you need to learn VBA, .NET or C language (if you don't know one). Then start making some macro by using record macro function in SolidWorks and refer to SW API help. Then there are some good books available to master further.
Unless you can find a copy on eBay, the only legal way (at least that I am aware of) to get the API Fundamentals manual is to an API class with your VAR or with SolidWorks. Likewise with the EPDM API manual.
After a third attempt with my VAR they decided to provide me some Value and actually get the book out to sell me.
And yes they tried to talk me into the class all three times, but also the first two times told me: We will get you the price for the book and never called back.
While I won't say who they were it was a pretty poor way to try to force the class on someone. Either you sell the book or you don't. Waffling back and forth just dimishes credibility. So anyways they are shipping the book and I am glad for that.
