If I recall in Photoworks it was possible to have a light source that was constant and had the option to be the true inverse-square. Now in Photoview 360 the units are always w/srm^2, is there a way to get a constant light power.
First off I should say that I don't use either of the rendering products you mention but still I'm curious about them. When you reference the inverse-square law I would assume that you are talking about the light as measured on a surface at a given distance from the source: flux/area = watts/m^2.
The flux/area solid angle in watts would be the radiomateric output measure of the source: watts/ steradian/m^2.
The first one (Photoworks) is the output measured on the surface, thae second one (Photoview 360) is the output of the source.
Correct, I'm concerned about the intensity at the surface. What I am looking to do is illuminate surfaces with unifirm brightness regardless of the distance from the source. I could a couple of years ago in Photoworks, but it seems the lights only work on inverse square, at least from what I can find.
That wouldn't replicate reality would it? I suppose that is one of the differences between rendering software and simulation software. Could you just add more sources?
Exactly, I don't need true lighting in my case. I believe the option in Photoworks was "Use Realistic Falloff". I am moving partially transparent objects over a surface to identify the shadows cast by each object. With inverse-square lighting the object can go from not visible to almost opaque, more light intensity just washes out the shadows. I've used Photoworks for a number of years like this to get uniform shadows with the "unrealistic" light source.
