Hello All,

In many cases we produce parts that require plating (coatings). In those cases, it's common that the dimensions are after plating. We use models to design and build machining and assembly fixtures as well as to use in CAM systems for part programming.

Recently, I made two configs of a part: final and pre-plating. That worked very well since the part was pretty simple. I just changed the model dimensions for the pre-plating config.

However, this will be a daunting task for more complex parts. So, I am wondering if there is a method in which I can make another config and auto-deduct a certain amount of material from all surfaces?

I am thinking the plastic molding guys might do something like this for shrinkage?

I appreciate your time to read this and any ideas you may share.

Thanks all!!
