I made a whole lot of mates in an assembly, about 30 of them, when I noticed I did one with the wrong part. So I went toi the tree and deleted the 3 wrong ones. The part wouldn't move out of the way. So I tried Edit / undo, expecting one mate to be removed.
But what happened was I got to watch EVERY one of them get undone, like a movie. Nothing would stop it. And Re-do is greyed out!!!!
Is there any way to get them back? Other than starting over?

That is a seriously messed up, useless way for undo to "work".

This is where a serious backup system comes in handy.
Or just don't save your assembly and close out of SW and go back in
and recallup your assembly again.
All of the mates were new. There was no earlier version to reload. This all happened today.
I beleive that when a Mate dialogue box is opened/started, all mates created within that "session" (not a SW session), will be treated as one operation.
What happened is when you put all of your mates in at once, you are only using the mate command once. When you hit the final Ok and accept all the mates you made, SW sees this as one event. So when you hit undo, SW undid the last event that occured. In your case, it was 1 call of the mate command that happened to make over 30 mates. This happens to all of us from time to time.
This is one reason I like to use Smart Mates, all of those are seen as single events. If you are inserting hardware, mate references help a lot too.

I didn't know that, but it hasn't been a problem for me because I rarely do more than 5 or 6 mates before closing the command. I guess I just got lucky.
Learn from your mistakes, Save Often and Use the Reload Feature when you can.
Yea I had this happen to me as well (just not quite on the scale that you did). I searched the forums and help topics for a bit and found nothing. I ended up re-doing everything. Very strange, I never had this happen in previous versions.

Not that because you clicked undo, because you should know by now that things like this are part of a SolidWorks package.
Yesterday I had to replace one part in my assembly and all mates went Red with that part (Like 50 of them). Funny thing is that my new part and old part were exactly same except for one tiny change (They were imported models.)
We don't complain things like this. We just do this again. This is called Job Security!!!

Thanks everyone. I guess I just expected that all to work better. You can't even save without backing out of the mate command. Everything else I've done / used with SolidWorks behaves so much better. They obviously spent the time to have it play a nice animation of undoing all of the work, so why not something useful, like at least a "stop" command?
