Hi guys, any help would be appreciated.

I want to wrap a sinusoidal pattern around a cylinder in a helical pattern (in other words, the sinusoidal pattern does not make a single wrap around the cylinder as a ring on your finger may, but rather wraps helically as it travels around the cylinder).

I have tried wrap, but wrap requires a closed sketch and I want to do this with a  single line sketch in hopes of sweeping a circular cross-section across this helical shape.

I have also tried project curve (which is great because it doesn't require a closed sketch), but the problem is that if I create a 2D sketch, as it wraps around the cylinder, it distorts using the curve projection function (see "trial 3" picture).

I have also wrapped a single sinusoid, and then used curve driven pattern to pattern the swept feature, but this doesn't work well parametrically (when I update the single sinusoid, the interfaces between them once patterned don't line up well) which is why I see the power of doing a single sketch.

Any other ideas on how I can do this?
