I am going to be installing Windows 7 64 bit on my machine next week and I am reformatting my HD in the process, I currently only have it formatted into one partition (C) . When that is done I am going to install SW 2011 (I am currently using 2009). I have all my drawings saved in a separate folder to SW and I don't have any templates to transfer over as I only have a few that I use, they are really basic anyway and I will produce some better ones when I am up & running again.
My machine is a Dell Precision M6400 and I am the only person who uses it.
I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts about whether am I better off having two partitions on my HD? Also,is there anything that I should do or avoid doing when installing SW, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Simon
Simon,
I would personally go for 2 partitions and install SW2011 on the second partition.
This way if something happens on the first, all of your templates should stay safe.
I did this on one of my PC's inthe past and I was able to reformat C: without affecting D:
Also keep all of yout pertenant files like templates on the D: drive as well.
But, keep everything backed up for security measures.
