I have a .png file which is a picture. I want to add it to a part I am making.
I added it to the folder where Decals are stored, but when I open Decals from the appearance scene and decal tab on the
right side of the screen it does not show up.
There are two ways:
Add the folder location wit the PNG files to Custom - File location under Tools > Options and select File Locations. Then you can apply on the face as appearance.
Apply any decal and while editing the decal, browse to that PNG file and then hit the save decal option to create new decal under default decal folder and use as required.
So the only way to create a new decal is to apply an old decal to a surface and then edit it? This is one of the goofier workflows in SW, which is normally pretty good about workflows.
Since I don't do this often, I can never remember the process. SW help is useless - nowhere does it say that this is the way to create a new decal. Also, I make a new png with the right file name, to use as a decal. When the time comes to save my decal, though, the default name is for the old decal, so I have to fix that.
I'm I missing something? Any improvements since SW2011?
