How can I use a finished part on a mold assembly and allow for matrial shrinkage for my final mold drawing? I have inserted my finished part onto the assembly by combining the part. I now have to allow for shrinkage in some areas as it is a silicone mold. So in essense I need to remove material in the cavity in a few of the areas. I needd to do this without altering the finished part drawing.

Another option would be to use a configuration where you apply the scale factor. This has the disadvantage that you need to make sure that your configuration with shrink stays in sync with your "normal" configuration. It's probably a good use for a derived configuration, but it seems like even these can get out of sync if you are too careless or unlucky.

Jerry's description is the way I've been doing it for years. Apply the scaling factor (upward, for the hot part) under a separate configuration. (I usually call the config. "SCALED FOR TOOLING") Apply all mold tools under this configuration, including the tooling split. I create mold tooling drawings from this configuration.
The default configuration will show the cold part dimensions as the part is intended to be used, and this can be shown in a drawing. I find this is pretty easy to manage.
One way to do this would be to not actually use your finished part in the mold assembly. Instead open up a new part and use Insert part to have your Finished part be the base part of your new file. Then you can apply shrinkage as needed to this new part and use it in your mold assembly. Down the road-if you make any changes to the base part -your mold geometry can be made to update as well.
