Best practices designing mating holes

     I am interested in good ways to associate, & design, mating holes, for parts in assemblies. The hole series seems good but is limited in that I'm hidding fasteners, & need to create mating holes that don't go thru either side. So their faces touch, but don't go through. You access them in yet another hole at 90 for a screw driver in fastener applications. Well, this is one application. Anyway, fully dimensioning each part can seem a bit redundant, but at present seems to be the best way to do it, especially, if you want things to be easy down the road. Also you can often use the dimensions anyway in detail drawings, so it's nice that they are there for each part.

Thks, for any input;
