Hi Folks,

I'm trying to draw an ellipse with a geometric relation that I'm trying to keep...

- I have a 6x6mm square whose center is at the origin, so that the sides are perpendicularly 3mm away from the origin.

- Now I want to draw an ellipse with the following characteristics...

- The ellipse should be centered at the origin as well, just like the square.

- It should have a vertical width (minor axis??) of 8mm, 4mm each above and below the x-axis

- I want the ellipse to go through the corners of the square

How do I draw an ellipse in Solidworks knowing just this info?  I don't know exactly how wide the ellipse is along the x-axis, which is what it looks like Solidworks needs.  It's somewhere about 9.08mm, but more importantly, I want to go through corner of the square and then trim certain sections off.

Thanks,

Divya.
