It is properly blasphemy even mentioning a gaming screencard in a SolidWorks forum but I just need to ask.
I'm having problems with the OpenGL with this screencard in SW2011. SW2010 worked perfectly, but after installing 2011 I was forced to go use the "software openGL" option. I updated the graphics card software, but to no avail.
Do I have any options (expect buying a new GPU)? If not then I will have to talk to my boss
We have also seen this happen with a few guys.
What is great is that ATI firepro is stepping up its game and producing some nice cards!
The one we have test is the ATI firepro V 4800 with 1 GIG Ram for about R 1500
There is also a cheaper new range from Nvidia Quadro which you can look at.
Always confirm that is certified though. It makes a big difference!

But what concerns me a bit is that it worked with 2010 and now 2011 is giving me issues. Is there any reason for this or did SW just update its openGL engine?
I can work like this for the time being because I never have large assemblies, but there is a noticeable decrease in performance. And if I do bring this to my superiors I just would like to have all my angles covered
Im not to sure about the engine but i have picked up that some of the older cards no longer work well with the new 2011.
I always say a pc is a consumable and should be kept up to date to get the best out of your software.

Hi Johan. I see that this is not a SW certified graphics card. I've had some experience with top of the range gamers graphics cards. Basically I found a lower spec certified card sometimes works better than the gamers card. Try to always use a certified card. It's not a sales ploy. It works and keeps on working. I've had my Quadro FX 3500 card for more than three years now and it's been through three SW upgrades. No problem. :D
