How do I convert a SW assembly file into a DWG file
see my reply here;
Save the SW drawing as a dwg
Thanks for ur help.
You have to save the SolidWorks file as an ACIS file (.SAT). Then import into an AutoCAD drawing using the ACISIN command.
It is coming up with an error, unable to read the ACIS file, not sure why, can u help me out?
When you output the *.sat file from SW, go into options and check to see which versio of ACIS it is exporting with. You can select an earlier version. That may be your problem if you are exporting to an older version. Also the ACIS export will not work with sketch geometry.
Wat version of ACIS do u reccommend for going from solidworks to 2008 autoCAD?
Thanks for ur help, ur advice was spot on. I imported it into AutoCAD with no worries.
Thanks mate, that was the problem, I changed the version of the acis and it loaded straight into autoCAD.
