is it possible to control the size of the point used to callout a datum target? I'd like to make it smaller as I have a very cluttered drawing and have several of these - they take up a lot of space. Or is it in reference to target size? thanks
Have you check in tools>options>document properties under datum target?
Check out this link.
yes, I did. I don't see anything about adjusting the size of the "x" itself as I showed in my pic. I inherited this mess...uh, drawing... from someone for cleanup and there is a lot of info in limited views. I'm trying to gain space anyplace I can to keep everything on one page. The balloon/target size is rather large and the "point/X" that calls out the area is enormous relative to other dims, etc.
Gotta love the inherited files. They drive me nuts!!!
Was there anything in the link I gave you? I saw different types of taget options including none.
Have you tried adjusting the arrow sizes to see if it affects the targets?
I don't use targets so I am just throwing out ideas.
the dwg comes from someone at work, but it originally came from somewhere else. WAY too many people have worked on it - then I end up with it to make it legible! lol!
the arrow style does not effect it. I can't even figure out how to adjust the size of the target. It does not seem to be under options. The font size controls other datum features. I have never used this type of target before so I am sort of stuck, too. I had done a search both here and in help for datum target size and only found this from 2008: https://forum.solidworks.com/message/16858#16858 Maybe someone will come along who knows, or maybe it is just another of those SW drawing issues that still can't be changed and can be added to the "...REALLY?" thread
I'm going to take a dinner break and have a glass of wine - that should help
I love red wine!!!
I responded to you in the other posting. Sorry you are stuck with me for now.
It is weird how you can adjust the arrows, but not other types of pointing leaders.
I researched on google and I am not seeing anything that gives you the option
to change it. If I had Solidworks at home I would look deeper.
Do you have to use the datum targets or can you opt for one of the other options
given in the link I gave you?
i'll toast you as I sip! Here's to "better than proe in many ways, but nothing's perfect"
Good enough...here here!!!
I did do a work around and created an "x" block (was looking for a symbol to use but couldn't find one so this was quick and simple), then just used a split balloon. I can't attach the balloon to the block unless I want to make them a block but that locks the balloon in one place. However, this should work fine. There are several of them in the drawing so I think I will wait until I get near the end before placing them all. Here is a pic to show you the difference in size (my new one in place on bottom). I must say, it is utterly ridiculous that you cannot resize the balloon in a datum target.
I agree and sometimes I hate workarounds.
It is a shame that we all have to do these.
When the ideas portion comes back make a note of this and suggest this.
Thanks for the wine. It will go well with my mint ting ling ice cream!!!
sounds yummy! send me a spoonful!
so is that how it works? just post to the ideas forum? or is it something that I can report as a bug? I never bothered with anything in proe as it was hopeless but it does seem that SW pays some attention.
geesh. it's almost 9:00. I think I should call it a day/night... If I were in an office I certainly would not still be there!
Here you go, enjoy!!!
Well at SWW2011 they said they were bringing back the ideas portion
to the forum. But you could post it as an enhancement request.
Yeah, I am ready to call it a night. Have a good one.
