Good Enough?

I am an engineer for a company that does not have a true IT employee. We have finally been able to convince the supervisors to buy the latest version of SW and have just received it, but without the appropriate knowledge, we're not sure how our operating systems will handle it.

For an example, I am going to list my computer specs below. I know there are things that SHOULD be upgraded, as I know more RAM and 64-bit operation would definitely run SW better, however, is this enough to get things done? I don't want to go through the trouble of installing the program on our computers if we're just going to encounter problems and have to upgrade anyways. Thanks for the help.

Manufacturer: HP

Model: HP Pro 3000 Microtower PC

Processor: Pentium Dual-Core CPU     E6300 @ 2.80 GHz

Ram: 4 GB (2.87 available

System Type: 32 Bit

Again, I already know this is far from an "ideal" system, but will I be able to successfully function SW? If not, what upgrades are needed, or should I just start preparing to ask for all new systems?

Thanks again.
