Hello Friends,
Whenever I open any "igs" assembly file SW automatically creates .sldprt files for each individual parts.
Please help me how to avoid that.

Hi,
This might help out at the time of converting the assembly files, but I am facing a problem while openeing the "igs" assembly file.
For exapmple,
1) assume that there is a assembly file which consists of five parts. (in SolidWorks format) - say name A
2) the same file A converted into "igs" - say name A-igs
3) when i am opening the A-igs file it addtionally puts 5 parts of assembly A as ".sldprt " in the same location
please help me to avoid this.
Thanks.
Siva
Sivakumar,
When you save an assembly out as an iges file, in the save as dialog box, under options
there is a setting that says save assembly components as one part.
If you uncheck that box your assembly will come in as seperate parts.
Good luck.

I'm not sure this will affect the importing of IGES files, but got to Tools > Options > Systems Options > Assemblies and deselect Save new components to external files
Making External Components Virtual
