I save a block as a .DWG file in SW.
The block is 1 inch by 1 inch.
I open the file in DraftSight and now the block is 8 by 8.
How can I adjust this scale to the proper size?
I asked this question on swymsds, but have not received an answer.
Is the sheet scale in SWx set as 1:1?
Yes. We have 1 to 1 scale set for our Plasma Cutter.
Not sure if you understood. Within solidworks in your drawing file you must have the scale of the sheet set to 1:1 before saving as a dwg or dxf file.
Changing sheet scale doesn't help. You have to set "Scale Output 1:1" enabled (see Glenn's picture). Some older SW's had a bug here, so the result file was not 1:1 when that option was enabled, but I think it was fixed, for SW09 maybe.
Yeah youre right. My bad..
To further clarify, if you are creating drawing views from a model than you must be sure that your drawing view scale matches you sheet scale.
Well, you can use what ever scales in your drawing views and still define 1:1 scale using the "base scale" option, but of course it is much easier (and more error free) way to use the sheet scale.
I don't know if this will help or not, but I occasionally save SW drawings as DWGs. I had problems with the drawing views running off the pages until I checked the options button in the save as dialog box and realized it was set to an old version of AutoCAD. I changed it to the newest version and it got a lot better. My notes are sometimes still too large and run off the page but everything else is OK.
I am using SW 2011.
The scale coming out of SW is 1 to 1.
The Plasma cutter software opens the .DWG saved from SW in the correct scale.
I believe the problem is in Draftsight.
If I open the same file in Turbocad the scale is again 1 to 1 as saved from SW.
We have many different drawing Templates to "save as" from SW, but our Plasma template is 1 to 1.
Are you using the latest DS? It's not beta anymore...
