We have network with four licenses. It time we have to remove a person that has a license checked. Is this possible without stopping and restarting the service?
Thanks David Tg
yes it is, but you have to use the lmremove command on the server. You have to dig down in the flexlm manual and then try. After around 14 years with SW I've only needed to remove a license a handful of times so I would say SW is dealing with this quite nice. It was a lot worse with other softwares in the past...
I did not read the FlexLM manual as you suggested. We use FlexLM for license server so I am aware of the ability to do this. You are right, SW has it down. All I want to do is recal a license without stopping the FlexLM service. I have restricted right to the server, so stopping a service is not an option. I amy not be able to go through the step you suggested. Thanks for the help. David Tg
With regard to using lmremove, is that how you forcefully get a borrowed license to be returned? Say they've borrowed the license, on their laptop, and taken it home. So they are off-network and you need to get the license back. Is this how it's done?
The best of my knowledge a borrowed license cannot be returned without the laptop connected to the network server. We had a problem with this when a license was incorrectly borrowed. I do not remeber the details on what caused the problem or how we corrected it. We did contact our VAR and they provided a solution. Very painfull.
