Is there a way in EPDM to restrict certain groups from being able to copy outside the vault and also to be able to restrict their ability to print? Basically limit their access to View Only.
Well...typically if they can they can open it, they can print it.......and I don't think's a way to print copynig out of the vault.
One option to prevent printing is PDF. Make PDFs of you documents by purchase Acrobat, Foxit, or Bluebeam (Probably some others, maybe even free), then set security on them and not allow printing, copying text, saving, etc. They can still copy the file out of ePDM, but they can't do much with it except view it.
I used Bluebeam PDF Revu to set the options in the pic in the previous post. It even has a batch mode to set it for groups of files.
I am hoping for a more direct approach to blocking the copy and printing. I think there is a group setting to prevent copy (at least inside the vault). But Printing . . .
Curtain e-locker provides this type of protection. You can use it to protect SolidWorks files on user workstations and file server. If you are using Enterprise PDM, it can also protect the EPDM file vaults.
