i'm fairly new to solid works so please be nice

i'm trying to model and create a mold for a small part - see the attachment

i modeled in 3ds max, but i need to create a prototype in stl, and then create a mold for it, the material will be a semi-rigid plastic, i will like it to be parametric so i can change sizes

can anyone give me a "best procedure" to create this, also how is the mold going to work if the part is a sphere like shape where can i place the parting line

please any help would be appraciated

You are not going to be able to mould this in one piece.
But you could produce the STL in one!
You will have to mould it in two halves with a 'jagged' split along the circumference, then weld together.

If it is a single part, I agree with Peter as regards to the mold.
If it's not a single part, let us know what the separate parts are.

i forgot to mention the part on top is actually a snap on cap, also the top opening is a large hole over 1/3 of the total diam. i will like to have it done in one pice, the material will be semi-rigid and i'm hoping it will be able to slide out of the core

  If this part was in rubber it 'may' be able to pull it off the core, but otherwise, no.
  To produce it as one piece, would, if possible, be an incredibly complicated tool with multiple shut-offs and cores going in all directions.
  Split it in half and produce both halves and the cap in the same tool.

i see , i was thinking , what if i change a bit the design and smooth all the interior faces so the core resembles an inverted ligthbulb and my parting line is like a third down from the top, would this work for a single piece

  Even in two halves, this will require many pulls, making it a very complex and expensive tool. I'd try to mold it as a flat pattern and use PAT technology (People At Table) to snap it together. In polypropylene, you might get a good result.

it will start as a low volume, 100- to 200 pieces, it may increse to double, is there any design modification i can do to simplify the mold,

  Wow, that is so few. Instead of injection molding, you best use an FDM process, perhaps followed by a dip coat so it looks glossy.
  
  I will have to save this for future presentations on injection molding, as an example of what not to mold.

  without knowing what it is supposed to do, I don't thing any one could offer simplifications beyond molding it in 2 halves. also 200 pieces is VERY low volume for a molded part. as mentioned FDM, or some other additive manufacturing method, is likely your best bet, even if the part were easy to mold.

  As others have mentioned, FDM or any other rapid prototyping process could be used. The end application (loads, stresses, etc) would determine which material and process would be suitable. I suggest you contact a few RP companies for suggestions and quotes.

here is a option...METAL...investment cast!!!!!!!!! can grow the wax with rapid will be one piece and strong, just like jewelry is made.

thank you all for the sugestions, i will look into FMD, as long as they can work with a soft material, the part will be use in some kind of support for eyeglasses so needs to be soft to the touch, but rigid

  The part could be fairly rigid and hard, but could be coated in a soft material.

  Too small for FDM. The Objet machines that Prem suggested would be a good choice. They can do both hard and soft materials. In fact the high end machine can do them together and even mix them for different hardnesses. You could probably do a hard core and a soft surface, even on such small parts.

3d printing on "Object"or simillar kind of machine could be an option.You can get it done in one piece that way.Not sure about the quantity.
