I'm stumped. I understand the standard for 3DGD&T is for parts only, but when I am in an assembly and Edit Component, I don't see the DimXpert tab? Technically I'm just inside of the part at that point, I just want to see the assembly while I would place DimXpert features. Regular annotations work just fine.

Yes, but as you can see the commands are all grayed out when in Edit Component mode.

Thanks for using DimXpert and TolAnalyst. It is a limitation of SW to add DimXpert annotations/tolerances using the "Edit Part" mode within an assembly. I understand your workflow and think it could be useful; however we made the decision to block this workflow for internal concerns. If you really think it is something that would be useful, please create an enhancement request for it.

Hi Tom,
You and I conversed in another thread that I can't seem to put my hands on right now.
We talked a little about the dimxpert. I am starting to use it again with some success.
One thing I noticed is that when I specify datums in a part, when I go and create a feature
control frame and select the datums portion, I have to type in the datum letter like I do when
I am creating one in a drawing. Can this be changed to incorporate a running list of the created datums
so instead of typing one can choose from a drop down?
I will create an enhancement request, but I figured since you and I talked about this command I would
throw it at you for your thoughts.

That does sound like an interesting improvement and the GTOL dialog box has been an issue on our radar for possible improvements. Please submit this enhancement request and we will take it into consideration with other ideas.

To solidify this thread I read what you said in regards to adding the dimxpert to assemblies being an internal
decision, but I would like to further the arument that this is needed. I just had an application this morning and sadly
I am not able to use it with my assembly. Is there anything more that can be done to further this?

It's been awhile since you posted in this thread. Do you have examples of how you wish to use DimXpert in Assembly mode?

The best example I can give would be a part/assembly of either a weldment,
or a part that has two or more parts welded together or even a plastic part that
has inserts in it. Parts like this need the dimxpert to be able to provide the GD&T.
