I have added a new part to an assembly that is intended to be an embedded part (saved with assembly file). I select the part and than insert a sketch, with the intention that the sketch is used for making the part. However, when I am done I find that the sketch is part of the assembly i.e. inserted below the part insteado of into it.
Can I get this sketch into the part? dragging, copy/paste don't seem to work. This is the 3rd time this has happened and it is starting to infuriate me. I know I should check before I start drawing but the whole procedure for starting a sketch inside an embedded part seemed to be more mysterious than it needs to be.
Thanks,
Marty
You must RMB on your inserted part and press 'Edit Part' before you try to make any changes to a part inside an assembly.
Oh Sorry didn't read the second part, you have to edit the sketch and select all of your sketch then do a copy paste into the new sketch.
You cant just copy paste the feature. You have to select the actual geometry in the sketch.
