Update design table

When we use our design tables we always have "blockes model edits" ticked. I have noticed you have "allow model edits" ticked. So what ever you change in the design table will update automatically in the drawing.

Just a suggestion that might help...

I did as you suggested and added a new configuration. I had to rebuild the drawing to get it to display.

Attached is my test model. Hope this helps you Lampard.

Solidair, very sound testing. I have Mr. Suire's problems from time to time as well, but it seems almost random when the table decides not to update. Deleting and reinserting the table takes just a moment, but it iS just a work-around.

One test you did not perform was to ADD an additional configuration to the model, then see if the drawing updates with the additional entry.

I am running SW2006 SP4.0. I did as you asked and created a simple block with three configurations; each having different LxWxH dimensions. I then auto created the design table and deleted some custom properties that come with our formats but I felt I really did not need for this test. I then created a drawing of the part and inserted the design table. I then went back to the model and edited the design table. I choose to alter the configuration I had put in my drawing. After closing the DT, I went back to the drawing. Both the drawing view and inserted DT were updated. I went back to the model and changed a different configuration in the design table, closed it and went back to the drawing. This time the DT was not updated until I pressed Ctrl-Q. Finially, I went back to the model and changed all three configurations, closed the design table then went back to the drawing. This time the DT had updated. I tried this same test two more times with the same results. Could you make a simple block like I did and post it here with a drawing so I could see if I have the same problem? I do not know what the differences are between SP 4.0 and 4.1, maybe that is the problem. Unfortunately, I only have SP 4.0 at home. We skipped installing SW2006 at work so I will not be able to answer your post until tomorrow evening late. (Although I could see how it works with SW2007 PR).

You can try create a simple part, design table and create drawing. Insert DT into drawing. Chnage your dimension in the part or drawing. CTRL + Q. You will see that CTRL + Q doesn`t effect to DT in drawing. Any other ideas ? this is very important for us.

Did you do a rebuild or Ctrl-Q on the drawing?

I have a part with a design table. Then I create a drawing from those part and insert design table into drawing. I go to part and edit DT, but why Dt in drawing doesn`t update ?

any ideas ?

Yes I agree that some SW problems are not consistently reproducible. I will have to try and add a configuration and see if the table updates. I will post results.
