Hi.

I have a question about how you handle holes (core meetings) inside the partingline during the splitting operation.

I don't use the mold tools in SW since they have great limitations on flexibility when the customer delivers updated models (new dead geometry).

With mold tools you pretty much have to start all over if this happens.

The good thing with mold tools though, is that it's enough to just fill holes with surfaces to be able to split the cavity (shut-off surfaces).

With the good old "cavity tool", the flexibility is much higher but I can't find a way to split the cavities with only shut-off surfaces for the core meetings combined with the general parting surface.

Normally, I now close the holes by adding a thin boss. When the core meeting is complex my normal approach is to make a surface, use thicken and then combine.

(This can often result in the hated "zero thickness geometry" but it is always possible to solve in one way or another)

After the cavity and splitting (or cut with surface), the problem is that I now have to restore the missing material caused by the thin boss I made before cavity.

Is there a way to select several, not knitted, surfaces (parting surface + shut-off surfaces) in a split or cut operation?

Or is there another way of dealing with this problem?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

If I need to describe the problem in more detail, please let me know.
