Hi all,

I am currently trying to add 7/8-24 threads to a cylindrical body using a swept cut feature.

When I create my sketch, to make my profile, I have tried to use a triangular shape to make my cut. Each time I try to rebuild the feature I get an error.

When I create my sketch and I use a circle or an ellipse the swept cut works perfectly. Obviously, this is not the correct shape for the thread so I would like to know how to get the accurate thread shape to work.

I am creating correct planes, helix/spiral, and I am adding a pierce relation to the sketch and the helix/spiral. The path is set up correctly because it will work for the circle and ellipse. I am also making sure that my sketch intersects the part because I have read that sometimes there is an error if the sketch is drawn exactly on the surface it is supposed to cut or extrude.

Three questions:

1. What do I need to change on my sketch for the swept cut feature to work properly?

2. Are there premade thread shapes available in the Design Library or online?

3. Are there easier ways to create threads and check for interferences that I am not aware of?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
