I am trying to use simulation professional. Solidworks currently is only using 13 percent of the cpu Can I increase this? Where do I go to allow solid works to use larger percent cpu for windows xp 64bit I7 quad core.
CPU usage...probably not. It just way SW is (It's very linear in the way it calculates). Memory usage, definitely. Win7 is better at managing physical memory.
As far as I know....you can't. SW doesn't utilize multicore processors much. Some types of simulation utlize it a little better, but you'll never see it go to 100% like when you're rendering.
Thanks for the response. If you run windows 7 instead of xp shouldy you expect to see any gains in the cpu usage? Or is it strictly a solidworks problem.
Thank you for the information.
I use motion analysis on 8 Xeon cores and always see at least one core fully utilised and occasionally 2.5 fully utilised. Rendering sees 8 fully utilised.
OS is XP x64.
