Des anyone know how to create and what's the best way to create a chain link fence (assembly)????
Modeling each link would be rather memory intensive (probably using a couple of sweeps then pattern the bodies). If representation is all that is needed, check out some previous forum answers for modeling screen such as this: https://forum.solidworks.com/message/24383#24383 .
What I am looking for is to create an assembly wich would let me draw a chain link fence following a line pattern. For example, to draw a line of 30 feet, then to draw the chain link fence assembly to follow that path. Having at the same time line posts set @ 8' o.c. (typical in the industry). But also to be able to change the line post o.c. distance, the tubing size, the chain link size (gage, w/vynil, aluminzed, galvanized, etc), fittings, etc.)
Use the Appearance > Steel > Chain Link Steel appearance on a flat sheet.
I could do that, but I don't believe it would give me the result I am looking for. Besides, ti wouldn't generate a BOM
