What determines K - factor when using "Convert to Sheet Metal'?

When we use 'Convert To Sheet Metal' (or 'Mirror Part' as well, I believe) the K - Factor seems to be set to  0.5 (as a default?) and in order to change it you need to edit the Sheet-Metal Feature. Because of this it can be easily forgotten. What determines the K-Factor in this instance? And is it possible to take the information from the sheet metal gauge table like we would if we were using the Base Flange/Tab feature to make a sheet metal part to determine K-Factor, thickness and bend radius rather than entering it in manually?
