Working on large assemblies

Hello guys,

I am new to the forum but have been suing SW for a few years now.

The longer we use SW the more complex our models seem to be getting. The problem is it now takes up to 5 mins to open some large assemblies and when it's open its a case of hiding and suppressing parts until its workable. I am just wondering if we are going about large assemblies wrong as everything is on a server, nothing is worked on local. When we started using SW it was ok but now there are 6 of us at times, its starting to become head ache!

also I am wondering if our hardware/OS is up to the job as we are still using xp 32bit on Dell T5400 Xeon E5420 4gb (3GB switch enabled) DDR2 1500FX or 1700FX cards.

Is it worth going win 7 64bit? It's SW2009 we are using at the moment.

Hope someone can shed some light on working large assemblies!!

Cheers

Mark
