    Matrix Singular or Indefinite

    Chris DiSalvatore

Running static stress analysis in simulation on beam structure. Tried several iterations with various mesh sizes and tolerances, and continue to get the failure message "matrix singular or indefinite, no results saved". Any suggestions on resolving the matter to get the analysis to run successfully would be appreciated.

          Chris,

I suppose this is too late to help much, but I seem to recall that a singular matrix is liable to be caused by bodies that are unconstrained. You might want to apply weak  springs to your model to see if you can get it to solve enough to see the movable bit. I see to recall seeing in this forum that running a modal analysis is also a way to check if some bits move.
