We just upgraded from SolidWorks 2008 to 2011 and appear to have lost the ability to do photo rendering.
Do we have to purchase another software addin to do rendering now?
Sorry Michael with 2011 PhotoWorks went away. PhotoView is now intergrated into SolidWorks and it replaces PhotoWorks. We are sad also.
We do not have PhotoView available as an AddIn.
We are on SolidWorks 2011 Office. Shouldn't it be showing up as an Addin?
It is integrated. It is a little tab at the top of your feature manager along with configuration manager. I'd send a picture but we have not upgraded yet.
Yes, it should be showing up as an add-in.
Sorry my bad. I was thinking of the DisplayManager. Is the Add-in available only with professional or premium licences?
Yes PhotoView is only available with Professional or Premium versions.
Here is complete product matrix: http://www.solidworks.com/sw/products/10199_ENU_HTML.htm
It does not come with standard. It can be purchased as a stand-alone add-in. That is what I have, SolidWorks Standard with PhotoView 360. All those other add-ins on my list don't actually work, because my license won't allow them to run.
Technically it will still be with the formerly offered "Office" seat as that is everything that Professional is minus the PDM stuff
I have Office, but the only options I have under Render are "Edit Appearance", "Edit Scene", and "Edit Decal" All other tools, "Integrated Preview" thru "Recall Last Render" are all greyed out. Is there a way to activate these functions without upgrading my version?
Nevermind, I was informed that I forgot to turn on the add-in by selecting Tools -> Add-Ins.
PV360 works, but for some reason, one of the colors I selected for a sub-assembly isn't showing up on the render. A part is 'white' in solidworks, but appears 'blue grey' on the render preview. Still testing it out. The performance is slower than the stand-alone PhotoView. Not sure if I like that it is now integrated with SW2011.
