Hi i have a sheetmetal latch i want to put a slight rad on the part i cant figure out how to do this.I will be rolling these with a set of rollers.
Anyone any ideas.
Here is a video showing the process I use. Start with the big roll first with an oversize extrude. The cut the part between the Flatten and Process Bend features.
The extra flat I add to control where the part moves when I Flatten will not affect your part as it is likely within the tolerance band you are working with for that part. You can make it as small as you need and can still select on screen.
This is one way to accomplish what you want. There are a few more techniques you can use.
Let me work on it a bit and do a video for you. I am in SW2011.
First question.... How is that tap going to work after you roll it to shape? Would you want to put that in after rolling?
Try the Flex function.
Thanks Anna this is exactly what iam looking for i would never had figured that out. This is a latch for a circular bin iam working on.
An alternative solution is to select one of the vertical edges as your fixed geometry when using fold / unfold commands. Hopefully the attached MP4 of your latch will demonstrate this one.
Thats a good way to produce that part aswell David thanks for your input.
Brilliant, never would have thought of that and had no idea it would work.
