I upgraded to 2011 and I can't seem to locate the pdmwadmin function. Has it been integrated in some way? Or did I miss a critical option in during the install process? I tried to insert the SW2011 disk to add it like I have done with previous SW versions, but I got no where.
Any help?
There was a spot during installation that you needed to check in order to install it with 2011.
Not to fear, you can still add it back in easily.
Go to the Control Panel to Add / Remove Programs
Select the SolidWorks 2011 installation and select Modify (might also be called Change)
You will want to modify the installation of SW and when you are given the option to change what is installed in SW, make sure that you select PDM Admin
Finish the install as normal

Error 1334.The file 'pdmworks.chm49' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Client64.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I am now getting this error. This was a Win7 x64 /SW2011 upgrade.
Win7 automatically assigned my dvd drive as D: and my extra hard drive as E: (opposite of my preference). Afer installing SW I noticed the naming situation, and reassigned the drive letters. When the modify install it asks for the directory of the Solidworks Explorer.msi is located. That is now on the disk at E:\swexplorer. When I point it there, I get the error.
i would revert the drive letters back to the way they were.
then check the install manager (control panel> add/remove programs).
by default, pdmwadmin does NOT install.
although this is for 2010, i can't imagine 2011 being much different.
Gary, This is the same error and issue I was having a couple weeks ago. I had gone from 2010 SP0 to SP5 and even with the files downloaded and installation manager pointed at that folder, I still got an install error.
Long story short, I rolled back to SP0 (by uninstall/re-install), added pdmadmin then re-installed SP5. At that point installation manager needed to download the files for pdmwadmin, but I was up and running fine in a few minutes.
I think the issue is that since the vaultadmin wasn't added before the update, the installation manager assumes you don't want/need it.
I tried changing the drive letters, and there was no change in result.
My var is looking into the problem. We both looked into the files and could not find the .cab files in question, even on the source disk.
Our VAR had to get a special SWExplorer file for me to install. Once that was done, everythign worked as it should.

I don't have it anymore. It was a new SWExplorer install through my VAR's FTP site to SW directly. You'll have to contact your VAR. My VAR is Digital Dimensions in Phoenix. http://www.ddicad.com/
