Can anyone tell me where the green/red arrows went in SW SimulationXpress 2011? Both with fixtures and forces the arrows are gone! :-( Ideas are welcome !
Right click on fixtures and forces and select "Show All".
Check if this helps??
Hello Deepak, I tried it but it didn't help. Am using 2010 SP 1.0. Strange. In 2008 en 2010, still on my machine, it is working fine.
I tried it on SW2011 SP 0 and it worked fine.
Updated to SW2011 SP 1.0, tried and it worked fine.
Win XP 64 bit
Jan: please try this: there is a new switch in 2011 under menu: "View", look for "Simulation Symbols". That may be turned off (and/or the "Hide All Types" may be switched on). We ran into a similar problem with a client this week, and that fixed it. Hope that helps! -Tony

I didn't find option for Simulation Symbols under View menu while working with SimulationXpress. That option only comes up while Simulation is added in.
Also with Hide All Types on, I can see the arrows in SimulationXpress but not in Simulation.
Jan, do you have SolidWorks Premium on your machine.
I see the switch option in Xpress, as the screen shot shows...
@Anthony: are you sure your client runs SimulationXpress? @Deepak, I have SW Professional on my machine. However your answer led me to the following: earlier this year I received a free trial of Simulation from my VAR for one month evaluation. That was in SW 2010 however. So the thought is: could there be some remnants from simulation which are leading to this error in SW 2011.....?
Might be. So better will to be to a full reinstall.
Yes my client (by "client" I assume you mean software) runs SimulationXpress and I have the same screen elements as you show in your screen shot (Xpress on the right). I believe you should contact your VAR on this. They are supposed to fix this issue for you, and you pay for the support, so you might as well use them. I was only trying to help because I recognized a similar issue with one of our customers earlier this week, and was able to remedy their issue. Sorry I could not be more helpful in this instance.
Thanks for your reactions. I contacted my VAR and an RX session video with files is sent to SW for investigation.
Please let me know if you're able to come up with a solution to this problem. I'm experiencing the exact same thing, and can't figure out why.
The problem still exists :-(
The VARs reaction was whether I was using dual monitors, which is the case, and on which monitor I am using SW. That is monitor 2. That triggered me to move a SW session to monitor 1 and bingo: there are the missing symbols! SimulationXpress works fine there !
Try this !
Then they suggested to download the newest NVidia driver 220.127.116.1190 for the FX3800. That driver did not resolve the issue however when running SW on monitor 2. So today my workaround is to do simulation on screen 1.
I am considering to switch the monitors so have Win on screen 2 and SW on screen 1 but in the past my experience with Win starting on screen 2 is negative. Have to find out what to do yet.
Some forums mention that win7 aero setting may be playing a role here too. Noticed also that screen 1 runs on 60Hz refresh rate and screen 2 on 59Hz.
Thanks for the reply! I find that really bizarre that monitor setup would affect SolidWorks' ability to show previews in Simulation/SimXpress, while still being able to show everything else without a problem.
I'll have to look into it further, but it sounds like a possible SPR, to me. Thanks again for posting a workaround! If I find a better solution, I'll be sure to post here, as well..
FYI, my VAR informed me that SolidWorks concluded this is a software bug. The development team will work on it under SPR 576065.
I was having this problem using simulation in premium (not SimXpress). I do have SolidWorks on monitor 2. Moved it to monitor 1 and there are the symbols!
Thank you for posting this work around. You saved me hours of angst.
This issue seems to have been resolved in 2011 SP 4.0. At least with my setup. XP 64bit - Nvidia Quadro 4600 -dual monitors.
