I'm working on an assignment in which we very roughly model am HVAC system. The assignment is designed just as an exercise to use the sweep and loft features, no actual design of the HVAC system.

With that being said, the return duct path has two merging sections of duct work. I've created a 3d sketch and the profile sketch for the sweep. When I try to sweep along the path, it either doesn't work at all, or it only highlights one portion of the path ignoring the tangential portion of the sketch.

Below is a picture of what I'm getting.

A few students have created two separate intersecting sweeps and then created additional sketches and cut away the overlapping vent sections. Although they are getting the "desired" outcome, it seems like there needs to be a much better method.
