do you have the part open in the assembly at the rollback state? if you do thats why the part is the way you see it, you need to correct the assembly first.
I hadn't noticed that, but after a quick test, I see thae same thing.
Rollback the bar to just below the sketch to be edited
Activate Edit Sketch mode
Right click the bar (ignore the Stop sign) and Roll to End
All features should now be visible.
I don't know if this is intended function or a quirk.
Wow, thank you! That was fast. So glad I asked, because I was stumped! I did have an assembly open - it was not rolled back, but I guess in 2011 it automatically updated even in the background when working in part files. After closing the assembly, my "roll forward", etc. commands are back in sketch mode in the part file.
Note to the other reply - rolling back before editing the sketch also worked, the commands came back to roll forward then too.
It would be nice if this was anywhere in SolidWorks help, since that is a change from earlier releases - I used to be able to work on parts with assemblies open without any problems. But at least there are helpful users out there who can assist!
Thanks everyone, I'll definitely come back next time I have a question/problem.
Glad it got fixed and wasn't a strange issue
Further I would advice to share pics/files along with asking/replying to issues. This way you make it easier for the people to understand better.
