Hi
How to set a Ref. Des in solidwoks so that CW read it by default.
I have tried it by providing the Ref des in "Component Reference" of Component property dialog box in assembly level, but this is not working.

Hi Mark
Thanks for the input. I did find one way to address this issue.
In SW if you right click on the connector you will get a option of CW properties in which you can enter the Ref Des.
Only problem we have in this is this will work only in premium version of SW.
We don't have many premium licenses i would prefer that if i can set the ref des in professional SW license and then take it to premium license to just to transfer it to CW.

Is this so you can export from CW to an ECAD package?
We import from the ECAD package into CW, then to SW. We have moved components in SW, then exported back to the ECAD package without any problems. What we haven't done yet is add a part to an assembly in SW then export it. I will give it a try.
What I will say is that the handling of reference designaters withing the mechanocal aspect of all IDF interfaces is lacking (being polite), these are critical for the ECAD packages and having an easy way of handling them would be benefitial to say the least.
That said I can always edit the exported board file and add a ref des, but it is a work around.
