I use a software (Artios CAD) that designs flat cardboard parts (ex.: cardboard boxes).
I want to send the flat parts from this software to Solidworks (in DXF format or other). I want Solidworks to recognize my imported flat part as a sheet metal part so I can fold it & make a 3D out of it & render the part.
Does anyone know how to achieve this?
Thanks in advance.
Some one would have better solution, but you could try to import the DXF in SolidWorks and if you have bend lines in your DXF then mark those as construction geometry. Now extrude the flattened sketch to wanted thickness. Select a flat face of the extruded body and insert sketched bend, in sketched bend use convert entities for those lines that you had in the first sketch you imported from DXF. Hope this helps.
