Has anyone created concrete as a custom material? I'm trying this myself but unsure whether imdoing it right???
The concrete im trying to create is C50, just like to confirm the youngs modulus, compressive strength e.t.c.
Not sure how valid this is for exactly C50, but general data for high strength concrete can be found via engineeringtoolbox.com.
Should be enough to define the E-modulus (30 GPa), Poissions ratio (0.2), Density and Tensile strength (40 MPa) in the material database to get your calculations going.
That's pretty much what i thought.
However Sw's simulation doesn't seem to like the created concrete material and the simulation fails - anyine else had this problem???
All the read fields in the material should be defined, so it should be yield strength rather than tensile strength that has to be filled in. Make sure the units are correct. Also found a summary page on engineeringtoolbox for concrete: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/concrete-properties-d_1223.html
I manage to get a simple concrete block in compression to work, so I attached it (version SW2010 SP4).
You don't get any error logs ("Whats wrong?", etc) ?
There was no material with that part! Material not specified
please post the error message and a sample file showing the issue. it will also be good to know if you're using an xpress tool or full version (And which) and what version/service pack of simulation and solidworks you are using. but with kristofers info, you should be good to go.
