change configuration using excel

Hi!

I am automating aa assembly through an excel sheet.
The system is more or less like this:

the values are inserted into cells that are linked to dimensions from a sketch.
At the end there is a command button that rebuilds the whole assembly according to the dimensions entered.
This whole system is done using vba code.

my question is whether if it is possible to create a line of code to change the part configuration according to the value entered in the cell.

Ex:

part1 has 3 configurations

part 2 has 2 configurations

cell B3 - config3 (part1)

cell F4 - config 2 (part2)

Assembly - part3 (config1) + part2 (config2)

I hope you understand my explanation and my question

Thanks for the response, but that is not what i'm looking.

what i want is a VBa line code that capture the value in a cell and then looks for the part and changes the part configuration acording to the value in the cell.

I recommend asking for VBA in the API section.

Hello Tiago (sorry for the 5 years delay ),

Not so sure I got the problem, anyway here I try with this work around:

As far as I know, solidworks by default take the parameters form the first work sheet, so think about this solution:

1 - in the first work sheet of excell file (sheet1) you add your parameters that will guide the rebuilding of your design

2 - in the second work sheet (sheet2) you can insert an excell function with an Input and one or more output

3 - now you go back to your first work sheet and on the parameters you want to change, you make a link to the output values of Sheet 2; the syntax should be something like: "=sheet2!xx" (xx stand for the cell name). You do the same for all the parameters you want to change

Now in this way what you did is a program that change a series of parameters just by selecting your desired input (and to do it you just go to Sheet2 and change the input parameters):

Sheet2: you change Input -> Sheet2 give you an Output -> Sheet1 take the parameters from sheet2 -> solidworks take the parameters from sheet1

Actually this doesn't create any solidworks configuration neither charge to your design a solidworks configuration on the base of your input..... but what you get at the end is the same.

But pay attention: it seams to me that this could not work! Sometime Solidworks is not compatible with this kind of process (I still have to figure out when it works when it's not... seams like random... but for sure more unstable if your formulas are complex) and it get stuck on the excell function (the excell function are not always running...). It's so bad that sometime excell formulas doesn't run in solidworks
