I am currently running the license server on an x32 machine under XP. All users are also on indentical x32 machines with XP.
Our corporate ISD is doing a phased transition to Win7 x64. If I install the license server on a Win7 x64 machine, will it still
work with the XP x32 installations?
Thanks,
John
John,
If I understand your question correctly, you are asking whether the SNL server can be installed on a Win7 X64 machine, and serve out licenses to XP 32 machines.
If so, then, sure, that's fine. You just need to install the 64 bit version of the SNL Server software on the 64 bit machine.
Your SolidWorks clients don't care what OS the SNL server is running. All they care about is whether they can access the server on the correct network port. So, you could have various flavors of SolidWorks on different OS's, all getting their licenses from an SNL server on 64 bit.
I'm at a loss to explain why the other fellow on this thread had a different experience.
