Need help. I'm working with an assembly. One of the components has configuration. I need to make an equation so that when I change the, say, length of the assembly, the correct configuration will be called. Thanks in advance.
I figured it out. I didnt need equation. I use DT in assembly instead. Applied data validation of the component with configuration and added the following lines at the DT:
$configuration@ComponentName<instance> and linked this to the data validation.
There are improvements to equations in SW2011 that may help you. You will be able use "iff" statements in equations. If you are on subscription, you can download the SW2011 Pre-Release 1 from the customer portal but I would not suggest using it for production work until the official release.
IIF statements have been available for a long time. You can actually put any valid VBA statement into an equation as long as it doesn't contain an "=" sign. The "What's new" document sort of makes it look like it's new, but they are really just trying to illustrate the new capability to suppress features using equations. In order to decide whether or not to suppress something, you pretty much have to have an "if" type decision.
Josh - thanks for the clarification. I don't use equations very frequently but maybe I should dive into them more!
