i'm new to solidworks motion, could someone please guide me how to mate a shaft which carries eccentric loads to get correct reaction forces and moments on its bearings? also i want some information about bushings and how to use them to manually remove redundant constraints.

thanks Bill. actually i'm doing a motion dynamics analysis. so i guess the effect of the rotating eccentric mass should tranfer to bearings (which are actually assembly mates and no physical geometry) as reaction forces and moments. i want to obtain a plot of these measures over time. what i need to do is to ensure that i have correclty constrained my shaft so that there are no redundent constrains.solidworks can remove them automatically but for the cases that i tried, motion analysis failed afterwards.
Not only do you not need bushings, you don't want them.
Use Hinge mates for shafts in bearings (pity about the documentation).
MA fails for many reasons. Don't assume it was because of what you did last.
I split faces on one part in the expectation of measuring contact forces separately on each side of the split, but concluded that motion studies works with solids, not faces.
I have since split the part into two solids.
My experience of coordinate systems in motion studies is that they are global, not local. This is no help when you want to measure forces relative to local geometry in a rotating body. Now I measure both force and angular displacement, and correct the force components for the global displacement of the local geometry.
split the shaft face so you get appropriate areas for the bearing areas, put coordinate systems at the centers of the shaft in the mid planes of the bearings, use the remote load rigid connection to apply the restraints, constrain as required. Take the torque out somewhere other than the bearings.
