Opening via SW or Windows Explorer?

I'm new to SW, and was trained to copy the Released drawing to my hard drive using SW Explorer, which is a great tool because it brings in all the assemblies and parts. Then I go to the newle copied files, change the drawing to the next revision, and open. I saw another post somewhere that said "Opening files via Windows Explorer [not SW Explorer] puts temporary files on the network locations and makes you more susceptible to crashing." Can you please give some good ideas on opening files in SW, especially large files? Thanks ~ Anne

I never seem to have any problems crashing opening files from windows explorer (even large files) and I have a floating license which seems to be more susceptible to crashing. I find when I am transfering files Windows explorer is easier to move things about and easier to explore thumbnails of many files. If you need more info on the files SW explorer is great and if you know exactly which file you want then opening within SW is your best option there. So it just depends on your needs which applications you use to open files. We have only been on SW2006 for a while so there might be some issues on opening files with Windows explorer but I have yet to encounter them. Hope this helps out. Good luck,
